Circular D: Circular Connections
"The connections of Nature in Circular Design"
Our Circular Connections: an extraordinary combination of Circular Design and Biophilic Design, nature, and sustainable design. Our exhibition aims to explore how inspiration drawn from nature can be transformed into design creations that nourish the soul and human well-being, within a paradigm of a circular economy, entirely Made in Italy, fully respecting environmental sustainability and human comfort. Modern science has highlighted how integrating nature into our environments and everyday objects can bring multiple benefits to our physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
Biophilic Design
Biophilic Design is an approach that integrates and connects natural elements into our everyday objects. Incorporating natural elements does not merely mean adding plants, flowers, and natural materials; it implies a deep connection with life itself. This creates a holistic approach to achieving total comfort, where mind and body can find solace and derive profound ancestral benefits.

Key Elements of Our Circular Connections
Green
Integration of natural and fragrant essences.
Benefits for mental and physical health.
Natural Materials
Use of wood, stone, terracotta, and other recycled and recyclable materials, emulating natural patterns and processes.
A sense of warmth and authenticity, with unique tactile experiences that induce deep relaxation.
Economic and Ecological Savings
Energy Savings: Thanks to the use of high-efficiency LEDs, less energy is consumed, contributing to lower electricity bills.
Sustainable Materials: The use of recycled materials reduces the need for new resources, decreasing environmental impact and carbon
emissions.
Product Longevity: Modular design allows for extending product life, reducing waste and replacement costs.
Environmental Benefits
Reduction in Carbon Emissions: The use of recycled materials and lower energy consumption helps reduce overall carbon emissions.
Recycling and Reuse: The ease of disassembly and recycling of materials at the end of a product's life cycle helps preserve natural resources.
Ecosystem Well-being: Reduced impact in producing new materials helps protect natural ecosystems.
Natural and Artificial Light
Interactions between natural and artificial light that mimic nature.
Unique visual and sensory experiences.
Organic Forms
Use of organic shapes that stimulate the senses and evoke curiosity, generating positive emotional responses even through the skilful use of
colour.
Benefits of Our Circular Connections
Circular Design: In a sustainability perspective, our projects adopt all principles of circular design. Modularity and reparability are at the core of the designs, allowing for component replacement and upgrades, thereby extending product life and reducing waste. The use of recycled and recyclable materials minimises environmental impact while eco-friendly packaging uses biodegradable and reusable materials.
Biophilic Design: The scientific community has widely demonstrated the real benefits of Biophilic Design, including stress reduction, mood improvement, enhanced cognitive function, and decreased air, noise, and thermal pollution in living spaces. It facilitates connection and cerebral regeneration, increasing creativity and productivity while improving concentration and reducing anxiety and pain. Biophilic Design is a genuine necessity for the increasingly digital modern human. It helps rediscover the beauty and vitality of nature, creating sensations that nourish us and connect us with the world around us as well as with the deepest part of our being. Our design is based on the international protocol of Biophilic Design and on studies by Steve Kellert (Yale, 2008).
Focus on Biophilic Design
Biophilic Design offers numerous benefits for mental and physical health due to its ability to integrate natural elements into everyday environments. Here are the main advantages:
1. Stress Reduction: The inclusion of natural elements such as plants and natural light has been shown to significantly reduce cortisol levels, the stress hormone. Biophilic environments help calm the nervous system, leading to a profound sense of tranquillity.
2. Improvement in Cognitive Functions: Studies have shown that the presence of natural elements stimulates concentration and creativity. For example, hospital patients with views of natural gardens tend to heal more quickly than those without such views. This suggests that Biophilic Design can enhance cognitive performance and productivity.
3. Psychological Well-being: Biophilic design promotes positive moods and emotional regeneration. Environments incorporating nature can improve overall mood and increase feelings of well-being. The connection with nature helps combat anxiety and depression—issues increasingly prevalent in modern society.
4. Physiological Benefits: The presence of natural elements has positive effects on the cardiovascular system and immune system. Biophilic Design has been shown to reduce heart rate and blood pressure, contributing to better circadian rhythm regulation.
5. Improvement in Air Quality: Integrating plants into indoor spaces not only beautifies the environment but also improves air quality by filtering air pollutants while increasing humidity levels for a more comfortable indoor climate.
cONCLUSION
Our Circular Connections are design objects inspired by nature and its natural cycles, strictly Made in Italy using infinitely recyclable materials within a rigorous circular economy framework for genuine environmental sustainability. Organic forms evoke nature: leaves, flowers, and creatures that infuse joy and well-being when touched or viewed. Objects capture sunlight through their shapes while playing with artificial lights through skilful colour use, becoming living installations that change with varying light conditions and our emotional states. A profound and unique dialogue between humanity, its spaces, and nature... thus may Nature be an inspiring force bringing harmony into our lives...
... thanks also to our small creations.
